Privacy policy
Last updated 2026-10-11
This policy covers two things that are kept apart on purpose: the Siteline Chrome extension, which collects nothing, and this website, sitelineseo.com, which uses analytics. Both are run by Skadar Studio LLC.
The Siteline extension
Siteline does not collect, transmit or sell any data about you. It has no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no account and no server. There is nowhere for it to send data to.
What is stored, and where
Your settings, and nothing else, in chrome.storage.local on your own computer: theme, what counts as an internal link, export columns, highlight colors, drag-select options, and the domains you list under My domains for search pages. Scan results live in memory while the panel is open and are discarded when you close it or move to another page.
The Check a list page keeps the URLs you paste, and their results, in that tab only. When the panel hands that page the current page's links, it does so through chrome.storage.session, which is memory rather than disk, and the page clears it as soon as it has read it.
Uninstalling the extension removes everything. Reset everything in Settings clears your stored preferences at once.
What leaves your browser
Reading the page you are on happens inside your browser and makes no network request.
These checks make requests, and none of them runs until you press Run checks:
| Check | Requests |
|---|---|
| Link and image status | One HEAD to each link and image on the page, repeated as a GET when a server refuses HEAD. With Read linked pages' HTML on, one GET of each linked page instead |
| Share image | One GET for the image the page names for social sharing |
| HTML source comparison | One GET for the page you are on |
| Sitemap | The sitemap files robots.txt declares, or /sitemap.xml and /sitemap_index.xml, and the sitemaps an index lists |
| hreflang return links | One GET for each declared alternate |
| Canonical target | One GET for the URL the page names as canonical |
The Check a list page requests each URL you paste, and only when you press Check.
Two small requests happen automatically on each scan, because the page cannot answer them itself: the page's own URL, to read its X-Robots-Tag header, and that site's /robots.txt.
When the Google results overlay is on and Check the status of each result is on (both are on by default), Siteline requests each organic result on the results page once, so a broken or redirected result shows it while you read. Those requests go only to the sites that ranked and do not include your search. Either setting turns this off.
Every one of these requests goes directly to the site being inspected, never through a server of ours. Each is sent without cookies, so pages are checked as an anonymous visitor sees them. None carries an identifier of you, this extension, or your other browsing.
Search results pages, drag-select and automatic marking
- Google results overlay. Reads the results page you are looking at to number the results and let you copy them. It never runs a search of its own and never stores or sends the page, the query or anything derived from them. Switching it off unregisters the script, so no Siteline code is present on search pages.
- Drag to select links. Off by default. When on, it reads the links inside the box you draw so it can open or copy them. It makes no requests and stores nothing. Off means unregistered.
- Mark links automatically. Off by default. When on, it reads the links on each page you load to color them. It makes no requests and stores nothing.
Links to other services
The right-click menu and a few buttons open third-party sites (Ahrefs, Moz, Semrush, Majestic, SimilarWeb, the Wayback Machine, Google's Rich Results Test and PageSpeed Insights, a Google site: search, a new Google Sheet) in a new tab with the current URL in the address. Nothing is fetched from them in the background and no account is connected. Once you are on their site, their privacy policy applies.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Read and change data on all websites | To read the page you are inspecting and request the links on it |
scripting | To run the reading script on the page when you scan, and to register the optional overlay and drag-select scripts while they are on |
tabs | To know which tab is active, and to open the tabs a drag-selection asks for |
sidePanel | Siteline is a side panel |
storage | To remember your settings |
contextMenus | The right-click menu |
downloads | To save images when you ask |
webRequest | To read the status code of a redirect that Siteline's own checks caused. It only watches, and only its own requests |
This website
sitelineseo.com is a single marketing page plus this policy and the terms. It has no accounts and no forms.
Google Analytics
If you choose Allow in the cookie banner, the site loads Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which parts of the page are used. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID> and records pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location from your IP address, and device and browser type. Google acts as our processor. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
If you choose No thanks, Google Analytics is never loaded. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.
Google Analytics keeps event data for 2 months and user data for 14 months, then deletes it. Totals in Google Analytics reports are not affected.
Vercel Web Analytics
The site is hosted by Vercel, and uses Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies. It records page views with the referring site, country, browser, operating system and device type. Vercel identifies a visit with a hash of the request that is discarded within a day, so visitors cannot be followed across days or other sites.
Vercel Speed Insights
The site also uses Vercel Speed Insights, which sets no cookies. It measures how quickly each page loads and responds for real visitors (Core Web Vitals such as LCP, CLS and INP), and records them with the page, browser, operating system, device type and country, so we can see when the site gets slower.
Hosting logs
Vercel, as our host, processes the IP address and request details of every visit to deliver the page and protect it from abuse.
Your rights
You can ask what data about you we hold through Google Analytics, and ask for it to be deleted, by emailing the address below.
